Many thanks, my 3 year old had the same problem. I took the tape slide out to see clearly the place were to push with the screw driver. After following your instructions, the error code was not showing anymore. Little hard to put back the tape slide (3 very small screws) – After job satisfaction that it worked again. In mean time purchased a TOSHIBA Camileo s20 for only 70 Euro and a 8GB SD memory and no more moving parts on this one and good quality HD 1080p 16:9 video’s.

@RetroPCDOS thanks for your advise, it makes sense.
recommend to bend springs under the mode gear, due to availability of the mode gear.

  6. RetroPCDOS says:

It due to the cheap grease they used at the factory cause the contacts to loose connection, only true way to fix is, to take the whole tranport apart and replaced the grease, you might what to replaced the mode gear while your at it.

Why chance ruining the camcorder permanently???

HERE’S WHAT WORKED FOR ME PER SONY TECHS:

Take OUT the battery or disconnect the AC cord.
Turn the camera ON (tape, memory, edit settings) for 15 seconds.
    Turn camera to off setting.
Plug battery or AC cord back in.

    VOILA!

Worked for me and I had the stupid C32:11 error code for weeks! Door would not close. Followed the SIMPLE and SAFE instructions and IT WORKED! Just like magic. I couldn’t believe it! Save your money TRY THIS!

  14. SrFFurtado says:

For those who are facing HDD problems and have any Sony camera with memory stick slot , try this:

    1- Place the memory stick

2- Go to “Home” -> “Manage Media” (or something like that) -> And select the option to change to the memory stick, instead of HD.

3- Go to “Manage Media” again, then to “Format Media”, so choose to format the HDD! – Now that you are running the camera from memory stick, you’ll not have any problem to format the HD.

At least worked with me! I think it worths the try!

it doesn’t work for me . i have broke a tooth of the gear and it still doesn’t work !

i don’t really understand what to do with the screw driver on the gear !

  17. MrTimbobo says:

well it worked but as soon as i removed the tape again it got stuck again.so proberbly not advisable put 4 drops of WD40 on the mode gear carful to avoid the head and dont spray it in there ,working now in and out about 100 times no problem.
